Options of Brush Tool

The Brush Tool has some options that are all very important for us to know so we can use it effectively.

Opacity

Opacity helps us to control the visibility of our Brush Strokes. In the opacity slider, we change the value from 0% to 100%. By default, the opacity of your brush is set to 100%, which means the brush will use the highest intensity. However, from the Option bar, you can change the brush Opacity to make it transparent.

Size

If you want to change the brush size, drag the Size Slider, also you can click the Brush Picker drop-down arrow in the Control Panel, then adjust the Size Slider. You can also press the Bracket Keys [ ] to quickly increase or decrease the brush size at any time.

Hardness

Brush Hardness means that what is the intensity of our brush  while painting, it could be Sharp-edged which is Harder or it could be Soft-edged which is Softer. We can also adjust the Hardness from the same drop-down menu. A harder brush will have clear edges, but a softer brush will have blurry edges.

Stroke Color

The brush stroke color is controlled by the foreground color. To change the foreground color click on the top color box on the Toolbox. A color Picker dialog box will pop us asking for the color you want to use.

At a time, you save two colors in Photoshop, foreground and background color. To set the background color click on the color box behind the foreground color.

Brush List

In the same drop-down, you can also change some different kinds of brushes. Photoshop comes with various brushes, from which you can choose as per your need.

Blend Modes

Blend mode does it by changing the blending between two different stroked of brushes. In the blend mode drop-down menu, we have a few blending options from where we can choose according to our requirement.

Brush Flow

The Flow setting controls the speed at which paint is laid down. It means how much color can flow at the time of painting. If it is high, then more color flows through our brush where it could be messy.
